We conduct a thorough examination to locate the cause of your health problem.

Examination

If our consultation suggests that you’d likely be helped with chiropractic care, we’ll need to perform a complete examination. Our patients often comment on how thorough our examination is, compared with other practitioners they’ve consulted.

Our examination varies based upon what we discover during the evaluation of your health history. What we find will tell us which examinations we need to conduct:

Physical

This is a general evaluation that may include the recording of height, weight, pulse, blood pressure and similar objective measurements.

Orthopedic

These examinations test your ability to turn, bend and move key joints of your skeletal system through their expected range of motion.

Neurological

We’ll test your dermatomes, deep tendon reflexes, muscle strength and other aspects pointing to the health of your central nervous system.

Chiropractic

These tests can include postural evaluations, static and dynamic palpation and other procedures to reveal neurological problems.

sEMG

Surface electromyography is an instrument that locates subluxation patterns by measuring electrical activity in the muscles supporting the spine.

Thermography

Thermography is a way of measuring tiny differences in skin temperature that can reveal nervous system disturbances.

X-ray

Diagnostic imaging can help locate any bone abnormalities, fractures and reveal your spine’s phase of spinal decay.

Blood

The chemistry of your blood can reveal levels of stress, kidney and liver function along with other key indicators of your overall health.

Urine

A urinalysis helps detect infection, your body’s ability to produce insulin and other factors helpful in evaluating your health.

Mike Black Asks some important questions of interest to Clovelly residents - Chiropractor Clovelly Mike Black Asks...

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognise two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
If you have a fever, are you sick or healthy?
Chiropractors love asking this question because it gets to the root of the chiropractic difference. Turns out fevers, vomiting, coughing and even sneezing are all healthy responses. It means your body is working correctly. Taking medications to suppress these natural processes can actually prolong your recovery.
